Getting your website verified on Baidu

Baidu works to ensure the authenticity and trustworthiness of the search results it provides.

To help visualize authenticity quickly and efficiently for users, Baidu places a V symbol on the results for which it has verified the business registration.

The symbol is shown on the Baidu search engine result after the display URL and date. Verified sites in both organic and paid search results show this sign.

The symbol helps users quickly determine whether a website is trustworthy—and most importantly click-worthy.

Here, we discuss the benefits and details of being verified on Baidu.

Establish authenticity and credibility

The verification symbol signifies that Baidu views your website as authentic and credible. This increases clicks, conversions, and ultimately sales as users can clearly see the verification symbol and therefore trust the site.

Knockout knockoffs

Once your site is verified, it is extremely difficult for counterfeiters to steal your brand image and clientele, because Baidu will verify only one site with your name and likeness.

The verification symbols bear 1 of 3 numbers to indicate how long your site has been verified:

  • V1 indicates that you’ve been verified <1 year.
  • V2 indicates that you’ve been verified >1 year but <2 years.
  • V3 is the top class and indicates that you’ve been verified for >3 years.

Receive reliable annual authentication

Each year, you are required to reauthenticate your website with Baidu. The reauthentication process is different between brands that have a business registration expiration date and those that don’t.

Verify your site on Baidu: With a business registration expiration date

For businesses that have a registration expiration date, you must undergo the authentication process before your registration expires.

If not, your account and all account activities will be paused on the expiry date until authentication is approved. Once approved, your account will resume as normal.

The total process time is usually 3-5 business days. Note that your account balance can’t be $0 for reauthentication.

You’ll be required to submit the same documents you originally submitted to open your account, except with a renewed business registration certificate.

It’s best practice to submit your documentation 30 days prior to your business registration expiration date to ensure timely processing.

Verify your site on Baidu: Without a business registration expiration date

For businesses that do not have an expiration date on their registrations, Baidu still requires an annual review of your account. You must undergo the authentication process before your yearly anniversary on Baidu.

If not, your account and all account activities will be paused on the anniversary date until authentication is approved. Once approved, your account will resume as normal. Baidu explains that it usually takes 3-5 business days for approval. But in our experience, it usually takes only 1-3 business days.

You won’t need to submit any documents—you can simply request for Baidu to start the reauthentication process.
