Getting your business account verified on WeChat shows the authenticity of your account. Verified accounts display the verified badge and enjoy more advanced APIs, such as WeChat advertising and WeChat Pay, to provide users with more valuable personalized services.
Here, we’ll talk about the latest features of verified WeChat accounts to help you better connect with one of Asia’s largest social demographics.
Verified Account Features
Cost of WeChat Verification
Most enterprises must pay a CNY ¥300 (USD $50) annual verification fee. However, foreign, and local governments and non-profit organizations are exempt from this fee.
Advertising on WeChat
Only verified WeChat accounts can display ads on users’ Moments, Mini Programs, and at the bottom of WeChat official account articles. These ads help brands grow followers, drive traffic to their websites, generate app downloads, and increase popularity. WeChat ads provide precise advertising and target groups to strengthen conversions.
Fun fact: The gaming, finance, property, and law industries are not allowed to advertise on WeChat.
WeChat Pay is a feature of the WeChat app. It allows users to pay for items quickly through their smartphones. WeChat Pay optimizes the O2O (online-to-offline) experience and provides professional online payment solutions for physical businesses.
WeChat Pay offers a range of payment options, including quick pay, QR code pay, in-app web-based pay, and native in-app pay.
The minimum amount to be transferred from Tenpay to the merchant is USD $5,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies). If the transfer to be made is less than USD $5,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies) for any settlement period, it will not yet be remitted to the merchant—it will accrue in the next settlement period.
Settlement shall be made based on T+1, which means a transaction on T day will be settled on T+1 day. If a public holiday occurs where Tenpay is located, settlement shall be made on the day following the holiday.
