High octane mobile TV summit
A Mobile TV CXO Summit, jointly organised by CASBAA and the Mobile Entertainment Forum was held in Hong Kong on December 3rd. The highly interactive "closed-door" Summit successfully connected 40 senior content owners, mobile communications carriers and service providers in an informal and innovative environment allowing participants to brainstorm on how best to nurture the growth of mobile TV in Asia. CASBAA issues Asian Satellite Services Report
CASBAA has launched its first Asian Satellite Services Report for members highlighting the key aspects of regulatory effectiveness for the Asia Pacific satellite industry. The Report provides an overview of the satellite regulatory environment in 21 jurisdictions across the region and serves both as a top-level guide to the regulatory landscape in each of the jurisdictions and as an advocacy tool for stakeholders in the satellite industry. Pay-TV piracy tops US$1.5 billion for 2007
In the latest survey of revenue leakage over the last 12 months to the regional pay-TV industry, conducted by CASBAA and Standard Chartered Bank, the losses are conservatively estimated to stand at US$1.54 billion, as compared to US$1.13 billion in 2006.
